The GOP and religious right’s reactions in dismissing science reminds me of kids who stand on the roof of their house wearing capes made of Mom’s good towels. They want to be Superman and think that by leaping off the roof they will be able to fly.

If his statement doesn’t piss off us reasonable people then it might be funny, but far too many religious right folk and the people who sniff their ass, throw out this red herring as an indictment against seculars and other freethinkers.
The next time someone complains about atheists wanting to remove “God” from the public square you better make sure conservatives aren’t stealing your wallet at the same time.
The fact is that religion is not going to reduce the crime rate, stop you from being addicted to alcohol and drugs, or protect your children when they start having sex.
If there is to be religious accommodation in the public square, than it needs to be fair, and all religions and the non-religious need to have a seat at the table.
I just get tired of people with half a brain writing on issues they have little to no clue about. I hate the myths and lies they express about secular people and how they try, like Matalin, to paint everyone west of their view point with such a broad brush that it sounds ridiculous to those within those groups.
I have decided to do something about it.
