Six years later anti-science Christian Nationalists like Senator Rand Paul are still trying to make Dr. Anthony Fauci’s life a living hell by falsely blaming him for the COVID pandemic. Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission was sued for lack of diversity and of course a Trump judge redefined diversity to dismiss the suit. Establishment Democrats hate progressives and the pearl clutching has boiled down to repeating GOP talking points.

Ohio Republicans are all in with Trump including outright lying about stuff easily fact checked, who knew that Trump’s religious liberty commission wouldn’t be the inclusive neutral task force federal law requires, and finally we talk about the huge Democratic Socialist wins in the New York primary the media believe it is bad for Democrats?

The Ohio Legislature left for their summer break but before they left they made sure to do what they could to shore up Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign for governor since he is in a tie with the Democrat in state won by Trump 3 times and by 11 points in 2024. They jumped on the Medicaid fraud bandwagon, messed with our elections again, and hope we forgot about the Trump Epstein files.

Of course there is corruption in US politics that some call campaign contributions but President Trump and family have said “hold our beer” with the just the latest being a slush fund to pay off people who attacked the capitol in 2021. Then we hear about Ohio Republicans stopping a child marriage ban and putting up an election photo ID amendment to the Ohio constitution to mask the lack of reasons to vote for them in November.

One of my political antagonists, who couldn’t pass up using the state to attack all kinds of marginalized groups, lost his bid to be the Republican nominee for Ohio’s 9th Congressional District. Then we look at a recent interview Bill Maher did where he repeats a lot of transphobic myths then we consider the implications of the recent US Supreme Court case Louisiana v. Callais that finally gutted the Voting Rights Act.
