During the most exciting and potentially historical Presidential election in our nation’s history, some pastor from Iowa decided to inject some unwanted “MY God is bigger than your God” religious clap trap into it.
John McCain’s pick as Vice President is Alaska governor Sarah Palin. Besides her good looks, youth, and lack of experience, Palin also brings along an unhealthy religious obsession seen in many evangelicals like President Bush. If McCain was trying to distance himself from Bush, he goofed in picking Palin.
Austin Cline’s Atheism blog has a post about the lack of inclusion of atheists in the so-called “interfaith” religious service to kick off the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver this coming week. Not only were atheists not invited but were basically made unwelcome by the organizer of the event – Leah Daughtry, CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee.
It seems that 5th grade students were trotted outside their schools and given copies of the New Testament by members of Gideons International, and evangelical society known for handing out Bibles as part of their missionary work. When the ACLU got involved, some people took the opportunity to attack them.
